Thoughts
Mr. Elem was strict, a perfectionist, appeared stern but actually quite gentle. The 6 weeks I worked with him during 6th year medical school vacation at University Teaching Hospital was a remarkable transformation in my ability to think things through and quickly adapt as necesssary to changing clinical status. He gave me a lot of hands on experience in urologic surgery; will always be thankful. He was an excellent clinician and thoughtful teacher. Wish I could emulate him.
Time does move on though. My sincere condolences to the family.

It was from his clinical teaching at UNZA Ridgeway Campus, where I first learnt the word “curvilinear” as a description for Bilharzia-induced bladder calcification.
