Shadrick 27th June 2019

I am Shadrick G Lungu a senior consultant Orthopaedic surgeon who was taught urology by professor Elem when I was in my 5th year of my undergraduate medical school training. I did not know that the Professor had passed on to higher service until I got home when my wife, Martha, Informed me about the passing of our beloved teacher. She, too, is a former student of the late professor. I am now teaching under and postgraduate medical students. This afternoon, I was with a Zambian student, Suwilanji, studying in China but doing at attachment with me at Konkola Mine Hospital in Chililabombwe and South Hospital, Chingola respectively in Zambia. I was showing her how to put on sterile surgical gloves. I was taught how to properly put on surgical gloves by Professor Elem. I hope my student will propagate this simple but important manoeuvre to those who will come after her; then professor Elem's legacy of perfection would not be in vain. As much as he was a good teacher, he, too, was a definition or arrogance and finesse. Go well professor, go well my teacher. Shadrick G Lungu Chingola Zambia
